Unfortunately, due to an unpleasant circumstance at Transavia, it was not possible for a first delegation to leave on 31 March, so that the entire group still went to Beirut together on Sunday 3 April.
The group consists of the board members Siem, Bartina, Fred, Bert, Jeannet and Bart Timmermans of Sourceware (Professionals in smart networks and applications).
Objective of the project: To build the infrastructure of a new wireless Wi-Fi network at the college des Soeurs des Saints Coeurs in Beirut.
After a perfect flight with Transavia we arrive in Beirut where our friend and guide Georges Farah is waiting for us with a school bus and two drivers Tony and Elias. We sleep in a monastery this first week and are driven back and forth between the monastery and the school every day.
In short, perfectly arranged.
The most important pallet with the necessary fiber optic cable we sent by plane a few weeks ago and unfortunately has still not been released. That's a thing... it makes it all very exciting whether the project will succeed.
But we decide to roll out the necessary infrastructure in Cat 6 and Cat 6a Data cable. We have all worked very hard and we can say that all (additional) goals have been achieved. It was quite exciting whether the necessary items were released on time, but with a lot of calling, talking and arranging and partly thanks to Sumeya from Containers of love, we succeeded. All items are at school and the basic network has been laid. 4 of the 5 buildings are now equipped with the first access points and wireless WiFi. The employees of the school will do the expansion of it to the various classrooms themselves in the coming period.
The atmosphere was fantastic and from the school we received all cooperation. The nuns take good care of us with good food and drinks.
We got this "job" done together !
