Auguste Viktoria Klinik

Finally, the time has come, on 23-7 2 volunteers (Bert and Fred) picked up the shipment at the Auguste-Viktoria Klinik in Bad Oeynhausen.

At 7 o'clock in the morning we received the keys to a van with a giant (brand new) trailer from Jop van (Less2Care) in Deventer (thank you very much, Jop). Together with the rented truck (Bultman Deventer) we left for a house near the clinic to load a gigantic load of animal feed. This was given to us by Dr. Amir Khalil of Four Paws with whom we came into contact through Colin Bal. With help from the clinic, we loaded the shipment boxes and bags, which were stacked crisscrossing in and around the house, into the truck. After the sweat had dried again we drove to the clinic.

What at first seemed like an outbuilding turned out to be part of a gigantic clinic with many departments, workshops, treatment rooms and much more. After receiving us at the loading and unloading point, we arrived at the rooms where the items were temporarily stored via a corridor system and two lifts (after the first lift we were already completely lost). When we saw the gigantic amount and the corridors we had to go through, we got a bit stuffy. How were we going to move this and then stack it in the wagons? After a quick scan we first started with the front boxes that we drove with the help of 2 carts and a pump truck through the corridors and elevators (now another route, and we had already lost our way) to the cars and then loaded them. After the fourth (!) ride through the building we got a little grip on this shipment of crutches (enough for the whole of Lebanon), braces of all sizes and types, medical tools (ludicrous), iv stands, wheelchairs, walkers, bandages, supports, and much, much more. After we had loaded the cars full, we got to see some more rooms. We can easily take another ride but with larger cars ........

At 14:00 we left for home. Home? No, first unload the stuff. Not in Almere, we weren't going to get that anymore in terms of time. Fortunately, we were allowed to place everything in a protected area at moving company Veldhoen in Deventer. Thank you very much, Geke Klein Velderman for the help, the space and the warm welcome. The unloading went well, partly thanks to the help of Jeffrey from Less2Care. Everything neatly put in carts and stacked on pallets, sorted as much as possible and neatly packed and sealed. The shipment prepared to move to Almere where it, together with the nursing beds and walkers, can be loaded into a container. (see our weblog Almere, 07 July 2021)

Thank you all very much for the help with this shipment of pet food and orthopedic aids. We couldn't do it without you. We also cannot do without the help of the many donations we have received. But we're not there yet. In order to continue to offer help, your donations are indispensable. Think of us and the people in Beirut and surroundings when you open your banking app and deposit a random amount into account number NL64 INGB 0007 6493 55 in the name of Stichting Ondersteuning Veteranenactiviteiten about 'Action Beirut'. Thank you very much.
