With the help of our regular carrier Easy-Shipping, our container departed from the port of Rotterdam on July 29 at 19:00 for a, usually 3 to 5 week trip to the port of Beirut.

Why 3 to 5 weeks; the mother ship Maersk Izmir makes several transfers along the route in a major hub such as Antwerp, Algeciras (Spain) or an Egyptian transshipment port before reaching its final destination in Asia.

From Rotterdam (NLRTM), the mother ship leaves the North Sea, sails via the English Channel along the European coast into the Atlantic Ocean towards the Strait of Gibraltar.
Then via the Mediterranean Sea to Egypt (Port Saïd). There the container is unloaded and then sailed to Beirut (LBBEY) on another so-called feeder ship the Adelina. The estimated arrival is August 25 at 21:00. The total distance is about 7,715 kilometers (4,794 miles).

(Explanation: A mother ship is very large, often with a capacity of 10,000 to 24,000 containers, sails fixed routes across the world's oceans between major mainports, often cannot reach smaller regional ports due to its draught or size. A feeder vessel is a small to medium-sized vessel, with a lower capacity (up to about 3,000 containers), transports cargo from regional ports to the mother vessel in the main port, or vice versa (pre- and post-carriage).
