What an exhilarating day.
This morning we were very impressed with how many items people collected.
We are therefore extremely grateful to everyone who was a donor in one way or another. Without donors, we could not possibly do this.
For a while it looked like it would not fit into one big container.
First of all, a loading plan had to be worked out. Almost everything was removed and palletised. That was a job in itself.
The container arrived shortly after 14:00 and loading began.
In order to make the most of the 40 ft container, the pallets were loaded into the container. Once inside the container, the goods were moved around with a pump truck and removed from the pallets to make use of every little corner or hole. A big job, but above all a hot job for the five men in the container.
And for those who gave the instructions from outside, it was a cold job.
But oh, so rewarding and surprising: thanks to the organised loading, it was possible to fit almost all of it (66 cubic metres) into the container.
As a foundation, we are very proud of everyone who helped us today.
Special thanks to Bart, Peter, Rob, Derk, Fons, Corine, Henk, Gerard and Johan. Many hands make light work.
Thanks to Jeannet for the delicious lunch.
Many thanks also to Marcel from Easy-shipping, who sent us a package of
delicious snacks as a thank you for the good cooperation over the past year.
Without Easy-Shipping we would not have managed to get all our containers to Beirut.
Thanks also to Veldhoen Removals for always letting us use their storage space
and facilities to make a day like today run smoothly.
Special thanks to the Sheltersuit Foundation for their amazing contribution of no less than 5 pallets
(90 pieces) of their fantastic warm Sheltersuits in all sizes.
Thanks also to the Light of Dawn Foundation for their valuable cooperation.
Well done all! Now fingers crossed that the container reaches its destination without a hitch.
