Remembrance Day 2026 Beirut

Due to the ongoing unrest in southern Lebanon and Beirut, the annual commemoration of the dead at the monument in Tyre (Sour) could not take place in a safe manner.

Instead, an honorable commemoration took place in Beirut.
After various speeches by, among others, the Dutch Ambassador Frank Mollen, GenMaj Joe Haddad of the Lebanse Armed Forces, the Dutch Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Vincent van Ophem and Alain Waked of the Dutch Embassy, various flower wreaths were laid in honor of Remembrance Day 2026 and specifically for the Dutch victims of the UNIFIL mission 1979-1985.
