Message from the winners of the VVL Sponsor Lottery 2022

Happy faces

It was an exciting time. Not just for us as initiators of setting up the first edition of the VVL sponsor lottery. But especially for all participants who, by participating, all had a chance to win one of the two fully arranged trips to Lebanon, each worth 1350 euros. It resulted in three very happy faces.

For us as an organization it was an exciting promotion because we had no idea how big the enthusiasm would be. Optimistic as always, we made a total of 1500 tickets available. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to sales of that number. The good news is that the lottery, after deduction of the prize money and gambling tax, still yielded a nice 1600 euros in total. With this amount we can pay a large part of the costs for shipping the 35th sea container. We will load this container next Thursday in Deventer, so that this shipment of relief goods will arrive in Beirut at the end of this month. We do this together with the Containers of Love Foundation. This is how we keep it affordable together.

268 tickets sold

The total number of tickets sold is 268 and has resulted in two lucky winners. Glenn Kuyp from Almere with lot number 111 and Mrs. J. Vader from Utrecht with lot number 205. She has decided to give her prize to her granddaughter Denise van Barneveld. Here's a quick response from them both:

“My Grandma won the trip to Lebanon, but given her age and health it soon became clear that she herself was not in a position to go. I also bought a lottery ticket. After consultation, I was proposed to take over the prize. Of course I wanted to do that! My aunt and uncle regularly talk about the work they have done and are still doing for Lebanon. I always find this very interesting to hear. We recently had dinner together at a Lebanese restaurant, it was super tasty! That's why I really enjoy being able to make this trip and see with my own eyes what my aunt and uncle are saying, and of course taste the food there. I am really looking forward to the trip.”
